A causa mais comum de aumento da bolsa escrotal em nenês é a hidrocele. Essa condição é um acúmulo de líquido em torno do testículo dentro da bolsa testicular.
Esse acúmulo líquido (hidrocele) ocorre devido a uma comunicação que normalmente existe entre a bolsa escrotal e a cavidade abdominal devido à patência do processo vaginal. Quando não existe esse trajeto de comunicação entre as cavidades dizemos que trata-se de uma hidrocele não comunicante!
Geralmente é um processo auto limitado e cura espontaneamente. Dessa forma, não necessita, necessariamente, de cirurgia ou outros tratamentos invasivos na maioria dos casos! Inicia-se como um aumento da bolsa testicular, uni ou bilateral, de maneira indolor, geralmente nos primeiros dias de vida.
A ultrassonografia do testículo é o exame mais adequado para o diagnóstico. Com ele é possível, excluir outras causas de aumento da bolsa escrotal em recém nascidos! A alta resolução do método e obtenção de imagens em tempo real permite que o exame possa ser feito em locais menos acessíveis, como por exemplo na UTI!
Outras causas menos comuns de de aumento da bolsa testicular são: torção testicular, tumores, testículos supranumerários!
